Joining Kinetic means being part of a purpose-driven business where your ideas matter, your development is supported, and your impact is real. If you’re ready to help shape the future of operational technology in education and events, we’d love to meet you.
The Role
This isn’t your typical finance role. If you want to spend your career buried in spreadsheets doing the same thing on repeat, this probably isn’t for you. But if you’re someone who wants to learn fast, use AI in a real and meaningful way, work across a genuinely varied finance function, and grow into a qualified accountant - all inside a high-growth software business that actually invests in its people - then keep reading.
Here’s what makes this role different from most finance assistant positions out there:
You’ll use AI every single day. Not as a gimmick - as a core part of how finance operates at Kinetic. You’ll work with Claude AI APIs to automate processes, improve reporting, and build genuinely smarter ways of working. This is a real AI remit, not a bullet point on a JD.
Degree? No degree? No problem. We’re looking for the right person, not the right certificate. Whether you’re an A-level leaver ready to take your first step, or someone earlier in their finance career looking to accelerate - if you’ve got the drive, we’ve got the opportunity.
We’ll fund your accountancy qualification. We’re committed to supporting the right person through their studies to become a fully qualified accountant. This isn’t a vague promise - it’s a genuine commitment.
Variety, not pigeonholing. You’ll work across payables, debt management, month-end, intercompany, expenses, cost tracking and more. You won’t be stuck doing one thing. You’ll learn how a finance function actually works in breadth.
Real access to senior people. You’ll report to the Finance Manager and work directly alongside the CCFO. This is a business where junior people get exposure and their voices heard.
A culture that invests in growth. We don’t just talk about development - we structure roles, responsibilities and support around it. If you want to grow quickly and take on more, the door is open.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be varied. Here’s what you can expect to be working on:
Finance Operations
Process and vet supplier invoices - including spotting anything that looks off or fraudulent.
Obtain approvals from business stakeholders and load invoices for payment accurately.
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain financial accuracy across accounting systems.
Manage employee expenses, ensuring compliance with company policy.
Process and reconcile intercompany transactions across group entities.
Track and monitor costs against forecasts, flagging gaps and helping to update projections.
Debt Management
Monitor overdue invoices and proactively chase debt with internal and external stakeholders.
Escalate concerning debt in a timely way, working collaboratively with the wider team.
AI & Process Improvement
Use Claude AI APIs as an integrated part of your daily work - automating tasks, drafting communications, building reporting tools and identifying smarter ways of doing things.
Contribute to the identification of continuous improvement opportunities across the finance function.
Bring a forward-thinking mindset to everything you do.
Month-End & Reporting
Support month-end processing tasks, working collaboratively to meet reporting deadlines.
Use cloud-based accounting platforms including Xero and/or NetSuite.
Engage in ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed - this is a role for someone who embraces variety, not avoids it
What You’ll Bring
We care more about who you are than what’s on your CV. Here’s what matters to us:
Drive and curiosity. You want to learn, you’re not afraid of hard work, and you take ownership of what’s yours.
AI enthusiasm. You’re excited about using AI tools practically - or you’re ready to get there fast. No previous AI experience required, but a willingness to engage with it seriously is non-negotiable.
Numerical aptitude. You’re comfortable working with numbers and have a natural attention to detail.
Strong Excel skills. Essential. Accounting software experience is a bonus but not required - we’ll help you develop this.
Good communication. You can write clearly, work well with others, and aren’t afraid to pick up the phone.
Adaptability. Things move fast at Kinetic. You’re comfortable managing competing priorities and don’t need to be told the same thing twice.
Integrity. Finance requires trust. You hold yourself to a high standard.
A Levels or equivalent qualifications (or relevant experience). We’re open to A-level leavers, graduates, those taking their first step or want to take their next step in their finance career
